Love Wins but Scripture Loses
No one should be "happy" about the traditional (read Scriptural) view of hell. But those like Bell who would attempt to soften the biblical picture (see verses below) in favor of a more user friendly god have not done the true God any favors since it was He who created hell and He who so loved the world as to die on a cross to keep sinners from going there, but on one huge condition: that they repent and believe the gospel in this life. Yes, God is love. But he is also just and holy, two concepts that Bell seems completely unaware of. That is a tragedy for Rob Bell, for the many who like him, and ultimately for the lost. For it is the lost who will suffer most with the publication of Bell's book since they will feel less urgency to repent and believe the gospel before they die and the church will feel less urgency to tell them that they must.
"it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment" (Heb 9:27).
There are no second chances.
